Standard or Professional and Microsoft MSDE, SQL Server Express or SQL Server as
well as Afinion Smart Project Server®. Afinion Smart Project
Server is integrated into Afinion Project-Viewer,
but requires a different license key to be activated permanently. |

Smart Project Server® is the ideal database solution to save Microsoft
Project data.
- Using simple and reliable functions all your data are saved in a central database
and are available to all authorised users. The projects may be opened with read/write
or read only permission using Microsoft Project Standard or Professional. Users
which only need read permission can use Afinion Project-Viewer
to view projects and print the Gantt charts on up to A0 size sheets.
- Smart Project Server can be used as a reliable archive as well.
Every project can be set to archive status. These projects can then still be opened
as read only. If required your administrators can reset their status to active at
any time.
- Projects stored in the Smart Project Server database can only be
deleted by an administrator, they therefore cannot be deleted accidentally.
- Access permissions are administered using a three level model: Project Groups,
User Groups and Users. User Groups have read only, read/write or no access
to Project Groups. Users can belong to several user groups whereas projects can
belong to one Project Group only. All assignments can be modified later if needed.
- Using Smart Project Server Enterprise Edition you can even create
project groups covering every departement and site, so that users in different companies
and countries can access your projects.
- Smart Project Server does not require a standard installation.
All functions are readily available in the front end (Afinion Project-Viewer) supplied
together with the Smart Project Server. You will, however, need
to set up your SQL Server or MSDE accordingly.
- An Add-In to Microsoft Project allows you to directly open, edit and save projects
stored in the SQL database.
